ATAB membership is voluntary, FREE, and open to any person who applies and meets the minimum qualifications contained herein.The membership period is one year and begins on the date ATAB approves the application.Membership renewal is automatic provided you are a member in good standing, continue to meet ATAB standards for continuing professional education, and meet other ATAB requirements.Failure to maintain membership in good standing, meet ATAB standards for continuing professional education and meet other ATAB requirements may result in loss of member status, ineligibility for consideration for awards, scholarships, and grants, as well as loss of other member benefits.

Membership Categories

Certified Master Anti-terrorism Specialist (CMAS)this membership category is limited to anti-terrorism professionals awarded the CMAS credential who (1) are an ATAB member in good standing, (2) complete a minimum of 15 continuing professional education credits related to anti-terrorism responder topics annually, and (3) are employed by the Government, Military, institution of higher learning, or private organizations in leadership, planning, policy, education, training and other related positions associated with the war on terrorism.CMAS members must submit proof of meeting continuing professional education on or before the annual membership renewal date.In addition, members in this category are required to submit one (1) white paper, training presentation, or other approved project on a topic related to anti-terrorism to ATAB annually.

Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist (CAS) – this membership category is limited to anti-terrorism professionals awarded the CAS credential who (1) are an ATAB member in good standing, (2) complete a minimum of 10 continuing professional education credits related to anti-terrorism responder topics annually, and (3) are employed by the Government, Military, institution of higher learning, or private organizations in leadership, planning, policy, education, training and other related positions associated with the war on terrorism.CAS members must submit proof of meeting continuing professional education on or before the annual membership renewal date.

Associatethis membership category is limited to persons who (1) are preparing to become a Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist (CAS), (2) complete a minimum of 5 continuing professional education credits annually, (3) are employed or are preparing for employment with Government, Military, institution of higher learning, or private organizations in leadership, planning, policy, education, training and other related positions associated with the war on terrorism.Associate membership provides an excellent opportunity to gain the requisite knowledge, skills, resources and training by completing the CAS Examination Prep-Course (recommended, but not required) and taking the examination for Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist.Associate members must submit proof of meeting continuing professional education on or before the annual membership renewal date.

Student Associate – this membership category is open to any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university, who is interested in pursuing a career in a field related to anti-terrorism, such as Homeland Security, Public Safety, Forensic Sciences, Computer Security, Fire Science, Security Management, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Political Science, Information Technology, Foreign Language Studies, Military Science, etc. Student Associate membership provides an opportunity to gain the basic knowledge, resources and training required to become an Associate member and begin preparation for becoming a Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist (CAS). Student Associate members must submit proof of current enrollment in an accredited college or university.

Members of the Armed Forces

Members of the United States Armed Forces may apply for ATAB membership as an Associate, and may be eligible for credentials as a Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist (CAS) and Certified Master Anti-terrorism Specialist (CMAS), as well as advanced, specialized credentials as a CAS Physical Security Manager (CAS-PSM), CAS-Maritime Security Manager (CAS-MSM), CAS-Cyber Terrorism Responder (CAS-CTR), and CAS-Information Technology Manager (CAS-ITM) based on individual qualifications.ATAB certifications are currently available through the United States Navy Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (Navy COOL) website at https://www.cool.navy.mil/.ATAB does not currently participate in the United States Army Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (Army COOL) Program, but looks forward to offering training and certifications under this program in the future.For more information regarding the Army COOL Program, please visit https://www.cool.army.mil.See the “UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES PROGRAMS” page and “Qualifications for Certification” section on the “CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS” page for more information.
